All day, people continued to arrive from all over the U.S. People joined the Encampment from Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, San Diego, Wisconsin, Maine, North Carolina, Maryland, and more.
The day began with the Encampment morning meeting, where we sketched out plans for protests and actions to take place over the next few days, as well as plans to organize the camp for the steady number of people arriving and the large numbers expected over the next few days.
Activists from the Encampment spread out throughout the Capitol area, distributing leaflets about the Encampment and Saturday's March on the Pentagon.
During the day, activists from Code Pink joined us and said that in addition to endorsing and mobilizing for the Encampment here on the National Mall, they are also maintaining an Encampment outside of Nancy Pelosi's home in San Francisco, called "Camp Pelosi."
Several representatives of the local media visited the Encampment, and Roll Call magazine, the newspaper of Capitol Hill, featured a large photo the Troops Out Now Banner that reads, "Congress: the Whole World is Watching; Cut War Funds; Stop the War Now; Bring the Troops Home."
